Q: What is a book you didn't like and all your friends raved about or what book did you love that wasn't popular?
As a Bookcupid, my joy is to spread book love. However, it's impossible to love everything all the time and if you don't believe me ask Tom -- he is sleeping on the couch right now.
I didn't like...
To be fair, I read the first edition (not hardcover or paperback). I read it on the computer and it was filled with spelling mistakes. The premise was great, a troll, I mean you don't read that everyday... but the character kept switching from her home to her troll family back and forth. Until I couldn't hack it and offered to buy her a U-Haul.
I liked...
Keep Sweet.
It is not that raved about, but it should be. This little book of 215 pages is wrapped up with so much action, it's hard to put down. It took me one sitting to know this character would never leave me. We need more girls to be strong and brave like Alva Jane when she gets punished by a cult for kissing her lifelong crush.
I've never heard of either one of these books, and that doesn't happen often! lol Keep Sweet sounds really interesting and I'm going to have to check it out on Goodreads!

I love the idea of Keep Sweet. Adding that one to my TBR.

I loved Amanda Hocking's Trylle series but never got to read Switched. Not sure if I want to anyways. xD I haven't heard of Keep Sweet though.

Daphne @ Reading Until Dawn
It does put a bad taste in my mouth when there's mistakes in the book that are so easily avoided - like spelling words correctly. It makes me not want to ever read anything ever by that author again. Never, ever, ever.

I know, I don't understand what happened :( I've read a lot of indie books lately and haven't encountered any grammar problems.
DeleteHaha love the comment about Tom. Keep Sweet sounds really good, I will have to add to my TBR list. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOld follower just stopping by.
Yeah...Tom didn't find it so funny, lol.
DeleteLOL!!! Love your post this week and I'm kinda curious to know what Tom did to earn him the couch :) I haven't read either of those, but I have read a couple indie books that have grammatical errors and misspellings and that really puts me off. I've got an ARC that I'm reading right now that has some name confusion (one character called by anothers). I'm telling myself that it's because the ARC came out so early and they're going to catch it in the final edits. I hope so anyway because I am enjoying the story.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by this week and have a great weekend!
Traci @ Mad Hatter Reads
Hi from a new follower
ReplyDeleteI have not read those two so I do not know if I will like it or not. Keep sweet has badass character and full pack action -> definitely check it out later.
Thanks for stopping by my blog
I will definitely check out Keep Sweet! I do love a strong female lead!
ReplyDeleteThanks for following me at Reading With My Eyes Shut, I'm following ya back via GFC!
Keep Sweet sounds like a great book. I've never read the Hocking book, so it's hard for me to say if I'd even like it. I guess I'm just keeping away, because the premise never caught my attention.
ReplyDeleteI just had to go and get a look at Keep Sweet. I love getting book suggestions this way, so that I can check out books that I might not have found otherwise. What I really hate is when suddenly that's the new hit book or hit series, and then I feel like all I read are the big hits. Ugh! lol
ReplyDeleteI'm looking at reviews of the book now.
Haha, poor Tom, what did he do! I are with you about spelling mistakes and bad grammar, so distracting. You end up focusing on them and not he story.
ReplyDeleteThanks for following me, following you back now :D

And how ironic that I had a spelling mistake above! Deliberate of course for emphasis lol
DeleteYes, thanks for proving the point ;)
DeleteEven in school. I remember how grades would drop in college when a few spelling mistakes were found.
New follower! I agree, switched was more of a lazy read for me.
