TOP BOOKS I'M NOT SURE I WANT TO READ
To read or not to read, the one question every reader asks themselves before opening a book. Some are too long, too depressing -- or simply not the right book at the right moment. Here are my current indecisions:
The last book of a series can't make or break the whole thing. I admit that after reading Crossed, and not being too impressed, this finale scares me.
Betrayed by P.C. Cast
Another series I'm unsure if I should continue.
Stargirl really got to me -- made me think about the advantages to ignore bullies. But Milkweed deals with jewish kids in Nazi Germany. Sounds a bit too depressing for me to read right now.
Shine by Jeri Smith-Ready
Seriously disliked the sequel Shift. Not sure I want to finish this series.
No offense to William, but if this book is an exact replica of the movie, I'd rather keep avoiding it. I have seen the film way too many times to learn anything new.
Which book topped your list?

DeleteIt's always difficult isn't it, when you aren't too impressed with a series so you're not sure if you can be bothered to finish the series or not. Interesting topic this week, I find. Really makes me reflect on my TBR.

DeleteI read Shift sooooo long ago. Didn't really like it either I don't think. It was one I read sooo long ago, and then the third one was not available in the galley grab or whatever it was that I was reading the ARCs from, so I didn't bother tracking it down since I really didn't care one way or another. I don't even remember much about the series really!

Reached was just eh for me. There are so many "trilogies" that I look back on now and I loved the first book, and they should have just stopped there because it didn't get better. Like the Ally Condie series did. As for Milkweed, I loved it, so good. But then I am a huge reader of anything to do with the holocaust.

I would skip Reached. It wasn't worth it for me. I gave up on the House of Night series too.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of the books in your post, but I've asked myself this question lots of times. Right now, I'm still deciding whether to continue with the Maze Runner series or not. When I finished the first book, I was very excited to read the next few, but the more I think about it, the more I realise that what I liked about that book was the maze. I am curious about the whole mystery, but maybe not curious enough to read the rest.
ReplyDeleteI've started listening to Reached a couple of times and haven't got through it. However, I noticed Unravel Me in the corner there, and I'm listening to that right now. Much more interesting. Can't wait to read your review.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed Matched, but didn't even finish Crossed, it bored me so much. I don't think I will even bother trying them again, and based on reviews, Reached isn't amazing x
