Top Ten Tuesday: Let's hook up again soon

TOP TEN NEW AUTHORS TO ME 2013

2013 for me was a year of self-discovery. I even made sure to finish it with a bang (as you will see in an upcoming post.) Here is the list of authors I discovered this year, and intend to keep on reading in 2014.

Carrie Ryan
Oh, the gore! If Stephen King is the king of horror, this woman is queen. The Forest of Hands and Teeth series kept me in angst the entire night causing some atrocious insomnia.

Anna Carey
Author of The Eve Trilogy. I thoroughly enjoyed the mixture of action and romance in the series. It was refreshing.

Julie Kawaga
Only discovered her this year. Why did I wait so long? I got hooked with The Immortal Rules as it allowed me to see a complete different side of vampires.

Lissa Price
Author of Starters. It was by pure coincidence that her book fell into my hands, but I don't regret it one bit. It was innovative and had so many plot twists.

Megan Shepherd
Another discovery for me this year. The Madman's Daughter is one of the best retellings I've read so far.

Who tops your list?

  1. The only one of these that I've read is Julie Kagawa and I haven't even read The Immortal Rules yet. Her Iron Fey series is fabulous! I definitely have my eye on Lissa Price, Carrie Ryan, and Anna Carey.

    1. Ok, now I need to read her Iron Fey series. To be honest, Wicked Lovely kind of turned me off from fairies :/

  2. I still think about The Forest of Hands and Teeth books. I could visualize them so clearly, that cross between the movie The Village and The Walking Dead. I haven't come across another series like that which takes that darker more nuanced route. Even the romance did not feel gushy-hot guy, but more fitting for the setting of the books. All of them are pretty good, though they feature different characters.

I have not read Julie Kawaga's books and all the time I hear how great her series is.

    1. Yes! It is so visual. I couldn't put it down at all, and bought the rest of the series. Hopefully, the movie will get made.

  4. I had a similar experience reading The Forest of Hands and Teeth - had to stay up all night until I finished it.

    1. It was creepy. And for once I didn't mind the love quadrangle :p

  5. The only one I've read is Anna Carey, but I'm interested in reading books by all of the others. I need more time! I've heard a lot about Julie Kawaga and Carrie Ryan's books.

    1. I know what you mean. There are too many books to read (hope that doesn't sound like a complaint :p)
